Fabi & Daniel's Covid Friendly Backyard Wedding

Fabiana & Daniel are two of my favorite friends. We met through Fabi & I’s weightlifting team back when I was in college, her and Daniel had already been together for several years before this.

When he proposed, I knew instantly it was going to be a dope wedding day! The love they share is so pure and unwavering even after 10 years, it shines through so brightly. Unfortunately, there were some bumps in the road that led their day to get postponed from 2019 due to medical issues to 2020, then downsized significantly due to Coronavirus. But, honestly, the day they had fit their relationship and personalities so well.

It was one of the most intimate wedding days I shot this year - happening at Fabi & Daniel’s newly purchased and decorated south Austin home, with just their families and closest friends. The ceremony was lovingly broadcast through Zoom by her dad, and gah I loved how excited he was to be shooting that for them! The details she incorporated in her styling were masterful - a beautiful Frida Khalo-esque floral headpiece and the most awesome lace bridal cloak! They did all of the decor themselves with the help of their families, the bright colors inspired by their Mexican heritage.

The ceremony was so full of love and emotion, and the hugs shared afterwards were just as powerful. And WOW did the sky not disappoint! I love the way the skies look when they are on the verge of rain. We managed to carve out a beautiful area at a local neighborhood park for couples portraits - me riding in the back of Daniel’s truck with my light to get us the short drive there.

Their day really goes to show that you can have a beautiful, intimate, and perfect wedding on a small budget, since at the end of the day all you need are those you love, a space to celebrate in, and some tasty food

Getting to sit down and be a part of dinner with them and their family felt like such a gift, I got to shoot the toasts from the point of view of an intimate guest and it was so lovely. These two really hold a special place in my heart, that’s for damn sure.
